I Want To Start Weight Training On The Machines. What Is The Best Way To Get Toned?
I don’t really want to get big as I don’t think my body has the metabolism for that.
Is it possible to get toned on machines (don’t have access to free weights, just a good range of machines)
What is the best way to do this i.e reps, and weights?
I heard it was a lot of reps on a lower weight to get more toned.
And how many times a week should I go? Should I alternate between upper body one day and lower body the next day etc?
Any tips?
Three days a week work out on the upper body and two days on the lower body. Reps by all means except on the lower use heavier. Rest on the weekend. Good luck Grant M in Pennsylvania
Hello.
More reps and less weight will help you define and tone your body.
But if bulk is what you are going after then more weight and less reps.
Say: 4 sets of 10 @ 20lbs. for toning, and 2 sets of 10 @ 60lbs. for muscle.
Also alternate your workouts between your muscle groups.
One day you and work on your arms and the next day you can work on your legs etc.
About 30 min daily should suffice, start with some light cardio to warm you up and stretch.
Remember to consult a doctor before engaging in any type of physical training. and don’t exceed your limits.
