Will I Get Good Results If I Train With My Body Weight Two Days Out The Week And With Free Wieghts One Day?

I work out three times a week. I want to know if its alright to train with my body weight for two of those three workouts, then use free weights to work those same muscles on the third day. Or should I just train with either my body wieght or free weights only.

it depends on what your training goals are. I would stick with what you are doing and add in some high intensity cardio training 3-4x a week for 60 minutes. body weight training is great but it’s performed at a low level of intensity so there is not much of an increase in the metabolic rate after exercise. the greater the intensity of the training the greater the increase in the resting metabolic rate after exercise. there is always two parts to exercise when being used for fat loss. how much energy is being burned during exercise and even more importantly how much is being burned in the hours after exercise. for maximum fat loss exercise at a high level of intensity (75% of the VO2max) for 60-80 mintues.

I’d stick with bodyweight excercises. Weights can be hard on your body. If you want to use weights I would only use them a little bit. Bodyweight excercises tone & shape great muscles. Weights create big, bulging muscles. I am a competitive gymnast & generally stick with bodyweight excercises for my conditioning and it works wonderfully.

are you trying to gain muscle or are you trying to lose weight? because lifting waits is only going to cause muscle gain in my opinion. i prefer at least 20 minutes a day, 4 days a week on the tr ed mill. that will keep you firm and very slender. very model like.
